Mind Bump: If A Pill…

“If a pill could remove past fears created by certain events would you take the pill?”
Let’s start with the two most important words of my answer:
Hell. No.
And not just for the obvious reasons.
I’ve had two many bad experiences with medication to actually volunteer to be put on the stuff unless they’re taking care of something that’s interrupting my life on a daily basis and even then… well, I’d be pretty hesitant for a long while. My second reason is my firm belief that no pill that does that much good could possibly come without side effects. How on earth would it remove the fear unless it either A. removed your emotions, B. removed your memories, or C. both. None of the above sound all that great.
The next reason is probably the most obvious. I wouldn’t do it because even though I have a lot of fears based out of my past… they make me who I am today. I may not entirely be who I want to right now but I don’t want to be someone who hasn’t lived my life. How could I help others who’ve been there if I haven’t walked the path itself and taken something from? Even if all I’ve taken from certain events is fear, it gives me something to get over in life. Something to live for while I’m waiting to achieve all the other things I set out to do.
Would you do it? If it was as simple as taking a pill? Would you change your whole life?
